High-desert properties deal with wind, freeze exposure, sun, and dry conditions. Weatherization should focus on the places where air, water, and temperature extremes reach the building.
Windows, doors, crawlspace access, utility penetrations, vents, and exterior trim transitions are common places for drafts and moisture paths.
Comfort upgrades matter, but exposed plumbing, damaged exterior seals, and water paths should be reviewed before minor air leaks.
Some weatherization issues can be improved with adjustment, sealing, sweep replacement, trim repair, or threshold work. Replacement is not always the first answer.
