Residential Remodeling Scope Guide

A remodeling conversation does not need a perfect design before it starts. It needs goals, photos, constraints, and any repair issue that must be solved first.

Lead with the outcome

Explain what you want the space to do better: safer access, less water damage risk, better storage, easier maintenance, or an updated finish.

  • Main goal
  • Must-fix problem
  • Budget sensitivity
  • Timeline
  • Occupied or vacant

Photograph the full room or elevation

Wide photos of each wall or exterior side are more useful than only close photos of finishes. They show layout, access, and constraints.

Phase decisions before materials

First decide what must be repaired, what can be improved, and what can wait. Material selection is easier after the scope is stable.
